2.5-Hour Police Standoff Ends In PA Man's Suicide

A welfare-check turned standoff in central Pennsylvania came to a terrible conclusion on Thursday night, police say.

A 24-year-old man took his own life in a home in the 500 block of Bull Run Road in Lower Windsor Township on Mar. 24, area police report.

The unnamed man was believed to be having emotional issues, so his friends asked the "department to check on his welfare," the release states.

Upon arrival, officers tried to contact him but when they entered the home the officers heard a gunshot on the second floor, according to the release.

After that, "other police agencies and the York County QRT team were called to the scene," as stated in the release.

The man was found dead inside approximately 2 and half hours later— he had suffered a single gunshot wound to the head, police say.

York County coroner’s office was then called to the scene.

The investigation is ongoing. The victim's name will be released after the next of kin our notified.
